UX Unsolved Case | RTO Towing Your Vehicle

Updated: Mar 22, 2024

“RTO towing your vehicle which you have parked in the market area or road-side shops or food corners because as per RTO you might have parked in NO-Parking zone. But most of the times you don’t see any such “No-Parking sign boards” in your visibility and you park the vehicle.

Let's understand by a story...

User Persona

Mr. Mehta says, 1-day he went to market to buy groceries and for 10-mins he parked the bike next to the shop and went inside the shop to buy some goods and in the mean time RTO towed his bike.

He was bit pissed because he has to visit to RTO office and pay the fine and get his bike back.

Further we asked him "Didn't he find any signboards on "No-Parking" ? And he replied "Kuch nai likha tha waha pe" (there were no sign-boards of No-parking on that particular spot)

So then we asked him, if we design some better solutions on this what will be your expectations ?

He replied,

  1. Signboards should be easily visible.

  2. Parking zone or fencing should be clearly marked.

  3. Incase of no-parking, vehicle shouldn't be towed to the RTO instead instant fine should be collected then and there through digital payments mode. If toll tax can be digitised why we can't take no-parking charges digitally.

~ MVP Solution suggested by chyNN(Shine) Consulting & Advisory

This case can be solved by adopting AI tech which can help user to identify the parking spot nearby to user's location and also it notifies the user if he/she has parked in no-parking zone.

Please note this is an idea which can be implemented by considering the technology, functions /service and people in the eco-system.
